DO GOOD & FEEL GOOD

We just want to say thanks for helping! A portion of the proceeds from every sale will go to some wonderful causes...

DO GOOD & FEEL GOOD

They say to simply begin, from wherever you are, with whatever you have. Just begin.

And so we will.

“I don’t have much,” I think to myself. “It’s not enough to matter. Maybe I should wait?”

No. I won’t wait. Because I do have something. I CAN do this much right now. And when I have more, I will continue to do more. Today, I will do, give, think, speak this. Today, I will contribute my drop.

There was a lot of thought that went into where we wanted to contribute…what direction we hope the world will go. These are a few of the causes that tug at our hearts for various reasons.

We will donate a portion of our proceeds from every sale toward these things and more. Send us a message with your favorite causes, and we might add them.

As we grow, so will our opportunity to keep doing good in the world.

Empowering Youth – Inspiring Bravery

WHO THEY ARE

Born This Foundation declared 2017 the Year of Kindness because kindness is foundational to everything we do. How we treat one another impacts how we feel about ourselves, how we feel about each other, and how healthy our communities are. That’s why we believe inspiring people to be kind is the key to building a more vibrant and productive world. We understand this is no easy task and we can’t do it alone. That’s why we’re collaborating with a diverse group of partners and young people themselves to give youth the resources and opportunities need to build kinder communities.

We focus on working with local and national organizations who strive to empower young people in building a kinder and braver world.

WHY WE LOVE THIS CAUSE

They kinda had me at the tagline “Empowering Youth – Inspiring Bravery” and their mission couldn’t be MORE in line with our passion. Strength and kindness create a life and world I want to be in. I couldn’t agree more with their statement “How we treat one another impacts how we feel about ourselves, how we feel about each other, and how healthy our communities are.” I think together, we can create a healthier world with healthier people. This organization seems to attract a wide variety of organizations that all feel the same and who are standing up doing something about it, in various ways…a little something for everyone. They are having fun while being both inspiring and empowering.

STOMP OUT BULLYING

Standing up against hate, racism, and discrimination.

www.stompoutbullying.org

WHO THEY ARE :

STOMP Out Bullying™ is the leading national nonprofit dedicated to changing the culture for all students. It works to reduce and prevent bullying, cyberbullying, sexting and other digital abuse educates against homophobia, LGBTQ discrimination, racism and hatred, and deters violence in schools, online and in communities across the country. In this diverse world, STOMP Out Bullying promotes civility, inclusion, and equality. It teaches effective solutions on how to respond to all forms of bullying, as well as educating kids and teens in school and online. It provides help for those in need and at risk of suicide, and raises awareness through peer mentoring programs in schools, public service announcements by noted celebrities, and social media campaigns.

WHY WE LOVE THIS CAUSE :

On a personal note, bullying has affected someone I love. I’m furious. When you hear about someone who feels entitled to recklessly hurt another being, it is almost unfathomable. Especially if you so intimately know and love this amazing, beautiful, vibrant young soul that is getting damaged…watching depression, suicidal thoughts, and the shadow feeling unworthiness creep in. To be honest, I wanted to shake the bully with anger and despair. I want to scream, “why do you think this okay? Don’t you realize the damage you are causing?” I want to inject this bully with a shot of compassion and respect. My dad always taught us that bullies are damaged. I believe that. We need to shine a light on both the bully and bullied. Heal the heart and mind of both, as well.

The only way we can change things is by spreading the word and letting everyone know IT IS NOT OKAY. We don’t want to see bullies grown up into adult bullies and live around us, let alone raise smaller versions of themselves…and we don’t want the ones who get bullied grow up depressed and damaged. We cannot allow it to continue. We need to spread kindness and compassion liberally throughout this world, stop this kind of disrespect and hurtfulness. We need to be better than this.

LOS ANGELES LGBT CENTER

www.lalgbtcenter.org

WHO THEY ARE :

Since 1969 the Los Angeles LGBT Center has cared for, championed, and celebrated LGBT individuals and families in Los Angeles and beyond. Today the Center's more than 600 employees provide services for more LGBT people than any other organization in the world, offering programs, services, and global advocacy that span four broad categories: Health, Social Services and Housing, Culture and Education, Leadership and Advocacy.

Despite our size, scope, and determination to meet the growing demand for our services, we remain a lean, fiscally disciplined organization, earning a four-star Charity Navigator rating for six consecutive years.

We are an unstoppable force in the fight against bigotry and the struggle to build a better world, a world in which LGBT people can be healthy, equal, and complete members of society.

WHY WE LOVE THIS CAUSE :

The essence of what is going on when someone comes out inspires the hell out of me. What I see is someone brave enough to finally step out of the darkness and into the light; reveal their truth and live authentically. That risk and bravery move me to tears because I believe that spirit lives in ALL of us in one way or another. There is sooooo much room in this world for a variety of humans – there is even a NEED for it. It is beneficial and beautiful. It doesn’t matter, what shape, size, sexual identity, race, or age you are…the truth is we are simply human, and all part of the human race…truly more alike than different. We all deserve the same civil rights as one another. I want to support and live in a world where equality and the civil rights for the LGBTQ community flourish and become standard.

ASPCA

THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS

www.aspca.org

WHO THEY ARE :

“WE ARE THEIR VOICE”

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®) was the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world.

Our organization was founded on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans and must be protected under the law. Headquartered in New York City, the ASPCA maintains a strong local presence, and with programs that extend our anti-cruelty mission across the country, we are recognized as a national animal welfare organization. We are a privately funded 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation and are proud to boast more than 2 million supporters across the country.

The ASPCA’s mission, as stated by founder Henry Bergh in 1866, is “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.”

WHY WE LOVE THIS CAUSE :

This is probably one of the causes I am most passionate about. How we treat others, especially the ones who are unable to give us anything in return, is a reflection of our own heart and soul. That is true of people AND animals. Nothing is more important than recognizing that you must stop abuse and cruelty when you realize it exists. It must never be tolerated.

I had written a blog post about being kind and respectful to all beings, here is a quote, “I believe we must look at all non-human creatures with compassion. These little souls, little lives, have thoughts and feelings, and if we have the power to affect their lives, we also have the responsibility to do well by them. If you’ve brought them into your home, love them, give them your time, attention, comfort and patience. Be kind. Always.”

WEST VALLEY ANIMAL SHELTER

NO-KILL SHELTER

www.laanimalservices.com

This is a great shelter in Chatsworth. They have recently made the status of a no-kill shelter, which is fantastic and something I want to support. The rooms and areas they keep the pets are clean and well-kept. In general, in every city, we need more no-kill shelters and people willing to foster and adopt pets without homes. I happened to be turned onto this place by a social media post on Facebook and because it was so close I went in to see the animal they had mentioned with a co-worker who wanted to adopt this little dog. Never underestimate the power of social media or speaking up to see if anyone can do something! That post prompted 3 adoptions from people we know! Before purchasing a pet from a pet store or breeder, see if you can find a furry friend that desperately wants to be loved from here. Support ANY no-kill shelter in your area. They need money, marketing, supplies, and help.

OrcaBall

www.orcaball.com

Raising Awareness for Orcas in Captivity

WHO THEY ARE

OrcaBall’s mission is to escalate global awareness to the plight of the captive Orca, and assist with financial aid towards their release, relocation and the creation of safeguarded ocean environments for their future care.

The OrcaBall antenna ball and OrcaBall stickers represent an Orca with a collapsed dorsal fin (which typically happens when male orca whales are in captivity, due to various causes like lack of space to swim, dietary changes, reduced activity patterns, and more ). The OrcaBall is an icon to further public awareness of the captive Orca issues on a daily basis. Please check out their site and donate to a wonderful cause.

WHY WE LOVE THIS CAUSE

We kind of have a crush on this company and their passion for sea-life and all animal-kind. When they explained the reason for the bent dorsal fin of male orcas in captivity, it broke my heart. We were all meant to be born wild and free. While having the chance to see such a beautiful creature up close, may an interesting 10 minutes of your day, that beautiful creature is still a being, and deserves to have a real life outside of captivity and do more than be something to gaze upon.

It's pretty great that if you feel inspired by this organization, you can join the cause, too! They have OrcaBalls and stickers that you can sell in your own retail space.
